27 Jan 2008 - CLASHINDARROCH FORREST WALK
"A group of 10 set off from Fintray on Sunday headed for Clashindarroch Forest. The walk was on good forest tracks, some of which were very muddy from recent rain & snow. The weather was unseasonably warm, more March than January but it was a welcome change to be able to walk for 3 and a half hours with no rain, unlike most of last years walks.
We walked as far as the ruins of 'New Forest' where lunch was taken with everyone trying to shelter from a cold wind (see pic opposite). Cryle regaled us with stories of his ancestors, who had an illicit still in the area, to whom the occupants of this farmstead would have been near neighbours.
The walk back was also very pleasant with fine views of Tap o'Noth opening up to the southeast (see pic below). A fine start to the walking year and with a full programme planned it's hoped that this fine weather can continue for future walk days."
