24 Jun 2007 - FINTRAY WALKERS

A small but select group of 5 attended the walk on Sunday, travelling in drizzle to the car park in the Forest of Birse.

The walk would have gone nowhere had it not been for a kind mannie in a landie who ferried us across a 'ford' (a raging torrent, if truth be told).  We did however check with him to make sure the rest of the proposed route was free of such obstacles.

The day progressed in drizzle with the occasional lifting of the murk to give an indication of how lovely this walk would have been in better weather. Lunch was taken at the top of Carnferg Hill by the monument to "a heartbroken widows" husband and son, the 'Heavens' believe it or not.

The weather did clear a bit and the return to the car via the 'Fungle' and a couple of handy bridges was slightly more pleasant.

All in all a rather disappointing day, but for some the chance to blow away the remnants of hangovers, no names, no pack drill !!.
