17 Feb 2008 - CROVIE TO TROUP HEAD WALK

Here's a short report with pictures from the walk on Sunday 17th February 2008.

On a fine sunny, if rather raw, day we drove to Gardenstown (Gamrie) for the February meeting of the Fintray Walkers. After a short walk across the beach and around the path on the rocks we were soon able to see the way ahead with Crovie in front and Troup Head hill behind (see photo 1).

A nosey around Crovie followed with everyone most impressed by the neat little village, one member ever remarked that she could stay there for a week 'just watching the sea'. (see photo 2).

The real work now began and the climb to Troup Head followed. It was a pleasant walk through lovely countryside with great views back to Gamrie.  (see photo 3).

Once at Troup Head the full force of the wind was evident. The views West & East along the coast were somewhat restricted as it was quite a hazy day but the clifftop perch was a fine spot for a quick snack/brew.  (see photo 4)

After returning to Gamrie we drove to Macduff for lunch and thereafter returned to Fintray from what was unanimously agreed to have been a great
walk, especially given the spring-like weather and wide open aspects it afforded.

Thanks to Dave Moir for proposing this walk
